Whether the Weather
OUR FIRST PLAN CHANGE
Our original plan was to head south down the Bay toward Norfolk, closely follow the ARC DelMarVa rally schedule. The ARC Delmarva took a counter-clock wise approach. Leaving Annapolis in the afternoon they sailed through the night and arrived at Norfolk the next day - approximately a 20 hour trip.
Good plan, but our weather & wind forecasts didn't like it. A stationary front settled in along the Atlantic coast. Rain was developing all along the boundary, and the the wind was out the SE. Even worse, the forecast for the coming days was wet, wet, wet, with wind coming down the coast from Cap May instead of taking us up the coast to Cap May (a more typical weather pattern).
After studying the marine forecasts, we decided to run the loop in the opposite direction. Our plan would be to head NORTH up the bay early Friday morning.
Prep: Boat is loaded with diesel, water, and food. Kelly cooked a nice dinner onboard.
Departure: 5 AM Friday, we are ready to go.....I think.
