break..fix..break..fix

Whenever we talk about living on a boat it's romanticized. The reality is that unless you have a team of people caring for your boat, it's an endless cycle of break..fix..break..fix. To provide some perspective here's a running list I started at the beginning of our trip to Antigua on November 1st, 2018. We arrive today, November 17th.

Hydraulic boom Vang repaired and tightened
Leaks from pulpit in V berth sealed, while at sea
alternator stopped charging the batteries, faulty wires found
Jib furling line chaffed through, repaired at sea
Leak in freshwater line found and fixed
Replaced freshwater system pump, the old one leaked
Replaced raw water engine pump, the old one leaked
Replaced raw water engine strainer, the gasket fell apart
Changed oil and filter
Replaced fuel filters

But then, a half moon sets at 1:30 AM. The night sky is filled with constellations. Each wave triggers phosphorescent glitter, and we make landfall at 9 AM in Antigua. Fresh showers for everyone followed by a serious drink, then breakfast.

  2. Hi, yes, we remember you! Glad you are enjoying Boise. It is a special place to raise a family. Maybe we'll run into in the North End on our visits.
