Desolation Sound

Following wind and seas for 3 hours to get across the Malaspina Strait. Right turn into Desolation Sound. Now anchored in Prideaux Haven. We were here 3 years ago in August. There were so many floating high-top sneaker boats in Prideaux Haven that we left.  Now there are only a few boats here - beautiful mountains and a still anchorage.  Muzzies too.
Raining but should clear again late today.  It rains differently here. It's a gentle, quite, peaceful rain with low clouds rolling across the mountain slopes.  Not at all like the violent thunderstorms back in Idaho and Texas.
We are looking at taking the back way up to the Broughton's. The more direct route shows strong winds in the wrong direction. It would make Johnstone Strait tough. There is also Discovery Passage. The explorer George Vancouver described the waterway as "one of the vilest stretches of water in the world." Thankfully, the Canadians blasted a rock out of the middle of it, making it much less vile.
Prideaux Haven, home for day or two, is back behind those rocks. The harbor seals seem to like it here. Our friend Robert calls seals "stinky little shits." Jay agrees. Desolation Sound is a BC provincial marine park, similar to our US National Parks. Not a bad spot to ride out some wind and rain.
