Day 7: Cape Charles City to Deltaville - Full Sail
Position:
NM:
Sea State:
The wind came up over night, and it was time to sail. Around 11 AM, we came out of the inlet and crossed the broadest part of the Chesapeake close hauled. Iolair sails powerfully with the sails in tight, but we like to fall off a bit to maximize the boat speed. Chris was skipper and Kelly and I handled the sails. We worked our way up the Bay and made the most of the wind.
We arrived in Deltaville and dropped the anchor at 5 PM. Deltaville Marina offers the use of their facilities, pool, loaner bicycles, and convenience car for $11 per person. We rode the bikes around the town for several hours, polished off a pizza, bought a loaf of bread at 7-11, and put in the hatch screens to protect ourselves from the little biting bastards. There was hardly a wisp of wind all night, so we were glad for cooler temperatures. Absolute silence.
