Long day of sun in Bella Bella / Shearwater

Around 12:15 AM Kel, Vickie, and I made our way home from the bar. The sky was still glowing in the North.  We spent the evening with the locals at the Shearwater bar listening to 3 old guys from Vancouver playing rock and roll covers.  Tequila shots at the bar with the band lead to some fun Stevie Ray Vaughn and ZZTop. The older Heiltzuk grandmas dominated the dance floor. Hard not to smile. One explained to me that her grandmother was in the mural on the building. Grandmother was a nurse that moved to Bella Bella in 1933 - never left.

The brand new head chef from Montreal took a liking to us, and we all got a little drunk together.  He really wanted us to join his grand opening in a week, but we explained that we planned to be in Prince Rupert.  Bella Bella is a long ways from anywhere, and he is in for an interesting summer. The tribe, ravens, and eagles welcomed us as we walked around the town. A sunny day has a big impact.
