We have a plan and a destination!

Fougner Bay, BC

The second call makes a difference. Our "go..no go" date was about 10 days out and things were not looking too good. It seemed like we would be back-tracking to Orcas Island for the winter.  In SE Alaska there are long waitlists at all the best places to leave a boat for the winter months.  Several knowledgable friends told us Thorne Bay on Prince of Wales would be a good choice. Luckily, Kelly had established a friendly relationship with the harbormaster, Zac. Even so the only possibility was a temporary Oct/Nov slip for just 6 months.  After about a month of "nothing available" she called Zac back.  He had a cancellation and we have a permanent spot on the dock. By boat, it's a long day sail from Ketchikan. Without the boat, we can fly or take a ferry to Ketchikan, then jump on a 3 hour ferry to Prince of Wales Island.  Finally, catch a 1 hour ride up to Thorne Bay.

Thorne Bay is just our style. No cruise ships, 1 grocery store, 1 hardware store, a seasonal restaurant, and a few hundred folks.  The second call makes a difference.
